Buffalo, NY – This Monday, October 8th, traditionally Columbus Day, curator and creative director, Marquez Woods will be hosting an eclectic art exhibition in celebration of People’s Day. The exhibition, to be held at local community arts and resource center, The WASH Project, at 593 Grant Street, from 3-6pm, will be accompanied by a live participatory art demonstration, music, and light refreshments. Art on display will include various works collected throughout Buffalo’s academic community and local neighborhoods. A minimum of 10% of each piece sold will be donated to the Native American Community Services (NACS) of Erie and Niagara Counties.
We are all fully aware of the mixed motives, if not malice, that Christopher Columbus brought to this country. In a time where we embrace negativity and reject our differences, we must rally around each other and support the creativity fostered here in America. With this action, we will support the NACS as well as the artists that are working hard to provide substance to sometimes grim world. The time for complaints is over, the time for action is now.
